Animal Care in Niagara

Pheobe The Chicken!

Phoebe hatched May 4 2007. She is a Shaver Red Sex-Link, a breed of laying hen developed in Ontario.

Just like people, chickens have varied personalities. Phoebe is very mellow, but also quite bright. People tell me she reminds them of a queen. She is very aware of everything, takes things in stride and never lets her feathers get ruffled!

I use Phoebe for demonstrations around the Niagara Region. I like to show people that the skill-set I teach and use with dogs is transferable to any animal species (even husbands)!

Phoebe is trained to differentiate between colours and shapes. She plays tug and pecks targets. She currently is refining her ability to play fetch and to heel. She's one smart chicken!

Phoebe has done demonstrations for group dog classes, at private and public fundraisers and for the Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce.

You can see Phoebe in action at the start of all group dog obedience classes.

Phoebe is rewarded here for a tug time of 4 seconds.
The training session is 15 seconds long.
The beeping timer signals the end of the training session.
